Silent Like Myth, 2020

In January 2020, I traveled to my parents' hometown in Hubei, China, where I wandered alone and captured these images before returning to the United States. Just days later, the pandemic broke out in Wuhan and quickly spread throughout the province, the country, and eventually the world.

In retrospect, this series of photographs feels like a premonition - ominous shadows steeped in the scent of death, despair, and silence.
