ROAD MOVIE
2024, HD video, color, sound, work in progress
In June 2024, shortly after graduating, I went on a solo road trip across the United States. Starting in LA, I drove along the coast to Seattle, then flew to Alaska towards the east, down to Mississippi River, and then all the way to New York. While I spent much time alone, I also encountered various people along the way—drifters, immigrants, retirees, veterans…each incredibly generous. They helped me, showed me around, and shared their precious memories with me.
Having lived in the States for six years, this trip marked the first time I truly began to examine the country, its landscapes and its people. Individuals I met appeared caught in states of waiting, longing, or quiet endurance, often displaced, while the landscapes became metaphors for cultural and emotional spaces. Those vast, often bleak, industrial and rural landscapes seem like a distant and silent world. ROAD MOVIE represents my understanding of the U.S. and my attempt to understand myself—to explain the unexplainable, to find a vital inner connection, and to fill the irreparable gap. Together they form a mediation on souls that purely and beautifully existing by themselves.
The project will consist of three sections:
1. A film entitled “ROAD MOVIE”
2. An installation
3. A photobook “Fading Sun”
